Overview

As a Chick-fil-A Supply driver, you will accurately and safely deliver products to Chick-fil-A® restaurants in a timely manner. You are a safe, professional driver who follows all company policies and laws and regulations regarding commercial drivers. In this role, based at the Market Distribution Center (MDC) in St Louis, MO, you will help support continued innovation at an operation like no other in the food service industry.

Schedule:  

  • 4 Day Workweek (4 10 -hour days)
  • The schedule will be assigned according to business needs, and flexibility is needed during weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts

Pay: Starting at $82,000/annually

Responsibilities

  • Make safe, timely deliveries  
  • Unload and put away product at Restaurants 
  • Upon return to the DC, assist in unloading the truck and putting away equipment (e.g., hand truck) 
  • Gather necessary paperwork for deliveries and transit 
  • Collaborate with team leaders before and after trips to assess unload time, delivery issues, continuous improvement initiatives and other aspects of the job 
  • Build relationships with Restaurant Operators to learn about best practices at each delivery location 
  • Keep vehicle clean and report maintenance issues as necessary 
  • Comply with all regulatory and company policy requirements: 
  • Operating within hours of service limits per the use of an electronic logging device (ELD) 
  • Maintain an acceptable Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) record 
  • Follow all pre- and post-trip equipment inspection and DVIR reporting procedures 
  • Routine audit of vehicle registration, permits, insurance, IFTA, and other required docs  
  • Operate within legal state and federal vehicle weight limits 
  • Following all policies and procedures in the FSMA regarding safe food transport 
  • Immediately notifying team leaders of any accident or on the job injury and complete reports 
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective gear as required per policy 
  • Abide by yard safety procedures, speed limits, parking, pedestrian crossings, safety vests 
  • Attend scheduled safety and job training sessions 
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions based on instructions at the delivery location (DC or Restaurants) 
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations 
  • Complete routes within established Restaurant delivery windows 
  • Complete all pickup and returns (e.g., pallets, carts, etc.) from Restaurants, and properly submit paperwork at the end of each shift 
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and/or move pallets/carts with mechanical assistance up to 2,000 pounds 
  • Work is performed in all weather conditions and usually at night 
  • Maintain a current commercial driver's license (CDL) and medical card as required by DOT; random drug tests will also be required 
  • Manage time off to ensure proper rest and operate in compliance with DOT regulations 
  • Maintain a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed 
  • Prepare for shifts to rotate 
  • Attend shift in proper attire and with safety equipment as required by company guidelines 
  • Work in a multi-temperature environment including freezer temperatures 
  • Have and maintain an acceptable MVR in compliance with DOT requirements 
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders including Restaurant Operators and Market Distribution Center staff 
  • Adapt to change and respond to difficult and challenging situations in a professional manner 
  • Manage pressure and conflicting demands; prioritize tasks and workload 
  • Other duties as may be assigned 
  • Intimately know the needs of customers, treat all parties with dignity and respect in difficult situations, and maintain a positive, service-focused mindset 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent (e.g., GED) 
  • Class A CDL Degree 
  • 21 years of age 
  • 1+ years commercial driving experience 
  • A self-starter with excellent project management and organization skills 
  • Keenly interested and engaged in finding solutions for continuous improvement 
  • A detail-oriented, organized yet creative problem solver and communicator (both written and verbal) 
  • Able to anticipate needs, lead multiple projects, and manage shifting priorities 
  • Able to travel for 5 percent of the job for Chick-fil-A Operator/market visits, supplier visits, and related conferences 
  • Skilled communicator across all levels of an organization, with both teammates and suppliers
