Overview

As the Transportation Supervisor, you will report to the Transportation Manager and lead a team
of drivers, dispatchers and helpers for the Chick-fil-A Supply Distribution Center in Olathe, MO. Your leadership will ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service and seamless
integration between the Distribution Center and Restaurants, as well as achievement of several
key performance indicators. The transportation supervisor will also help drive continued
innovation at an operation like no other in the food service industry.


A wholly owned subsidiary of Chick-fil-A, Inc., Chick-fil-A Supply is a distribution service
provider focused entirely on serving the unique needs of Chick-fil-A® restaurants. Due to
steady, year-over-year sales and volume growth, combined with the complexity in our
Restaurants, Chick-fil-A believes it’s best able to serve current and future Restaurant needs
through distribution innovation that extends the Chick-fil-A culture of care to those it serves, as
well as those it employs. This new subsidiary is in the early stages of development and is
a dynamic, fast-paced work environment focused on launching this new service to Restaurants
across the nation.

Responsibilities

As the transportation supervisor, you will be a catalyst for outstanding driver performance by
conducting Restaurant delivery audits, optimizing driver/route assignments, identifying potential
operational improvements, and leading the processing of trip reports and other documentation.
You also will:
• Troubleshoot issues with drivers during deliveries
• Monitor data (i.e. payroll entries) to enable effective tracking of expenditure
• Instill a culture of safety, engagement and positivity that reflects Chick-fil-A values and
serves Restaurant Operators.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for outbound transportation
• Balance the needs of the Operator with the capabilities of the operation
• Establish working relationships with store Operators as appropriate
• Drive seamless integration between DC and Restaurant operations
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local DOT guidelines regarding routing time and
drivers’ hours of service
• Share feedback on performance of outbound transportation staff with
the transportation manager
• Support budget management of outbound transportation at the DC
• Support Chick-fil-A vision and strategy
• Drive innovation in transportation and the Distribution Center operation
• Complete other activities as deemed valuable by management

Minimum Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must:
• Demonstrate functional knowledge and expertise in food service distribution:
• Outbound transportation procedures and regulations
• Routing
• Transportation equipment
• Performance metrics
• Possess working knowledge of innovations in supply chain and outbound transportation
and equipment
• Prepare for a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and rotating shifts
• Shifts will typically be at night (e.g., from 10 p.m.-8 a.m.)
• Complete physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion
• Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with all food safety and general safety
standards and quality specifications
• Minimum Relevant Experience: Seven or more years of experience with private fleet
operations

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with cross-functional partners
(HR, recruiting, security, finance, technology)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of federal, state and local government regulatory requirements for driver labor
scheduling and safety
• Experience in food service delivery leadership role
• Class A CDL
